CHLOE
Bullying is the intentional - physical, emotional, verbal or virtual - abuse...

WILL
("cutting Chloe off") Abuse meaning any form of torture, pain, harassment, hurt etc.,

TAYLOR
That is inflicted upon a person by another person, or a group of people...

CHARLOTTE
(picking up right on the end of Taylor's line) In order to make themselves feel superior.

ELISE
Many bullies take pleasure from putting others down.

LIAM
Often the “cause” of being bullied is a person’s:
-Religion or Beliefs
HANNAH
-Race

DAN
-Sexual Orientation

LIZ
-“Looks,” you know like how you (someone) dress(es)...

KENNEDY
-As well as Mental and Physical Disabilities.

MORGAN
Bullying has no regard for age, race or gender.

VICTORIA
It can occur at school,

RYAN
at home, on the bus,

KAITLIN
at the mall, in the work place etc...

CHARLOTTE
Today we would like to show you that we believe bullying is wrong, in any form - physical, verbal or virtual.
LIZ
We want to encourage everyone - young and old - to step in and stop it when you see it happening.

DAN
Together we are here to say that the students of Greenville Central School are NOT going to simply stand around.

LIAM
When you leave this auditorium, whether you are walking the halls, hanging at the mall, relaxing with your friends, working or whatever ... know that you can do something to stop situations where bullying is occurring.

KENNEDY
Students can always go to Ms. Fisher, Mrs. Klob or Mr. Reeve to address any bullying they see or experience.

HANNAH
Please, be the change you wish to see in this world.

ALL
Word.  Pause.  Any questions?

Time for questions.  All participants should sit on the edge of the stage for the Q&A.

Improv Scene Dialogue

SCENE 4 - ON IMPROV

Bus scene is setting up during the improv dialogue.

LIAM
(think teacher character for this, and you can have this written out if need be...)
Improv is a form of theatre where the actors make up the “script” in the moment.  Sometimes, like today’s performance, once these initial ideas are created, they are rehearsed over a period of time to make sure the beginning, middle and end - as every story must have these parts - is clear.  Other times the actors are told, by their audience, what they are to act out and the improvise (or make up) the scene on the spot.  Everything seen here today has been created by US.

For example....(improvise and instruct your fellow ghetto actors to get into ghetto character and then begin the dialogue below)

LIAM
What up ya’ll let’s talk improv ghetto style.

KAITLIN
Word dawg.  But I heard improv is mad hard yo.

KENNEDY
Pshhhh, it’s easy peasy.

LIAM
Improv is just taking a situation and making it up as you go.

RYAN
There’s a few rules ya gotta follow.  First one: don’t think, just do.

MORGAN
I’m good at not thinking gurl.

LIZ
Yo second rule of improv is to say:

GROUP
Yes and ... (5 count pause Liam - remind them you're all ghetto right now) what!

DAN
That means you always go with the flow yo.

VICTORIA
Third rule of improv is to justify your actions.

DAN
That means your words and actions gotta live in harmony dog.

HANNAH
Fourth rule of improv says: be clear to your audience and your partners.

DAN
That means it gotta make sense ya’ll.

GROUP
Word.

MORGAN
The most important is to have fun ya’ll.

DAN
Yeah, but it’s time to get back to our main mission gang.

Rehearsal NEXT Week

Hello everyone,

It has been brought to my attention that the High School musical auditions are taking place on the stage next Wednesday, therefore we will arrange a different after school rehearsal date.  Mrs. Raskopf is going to check the school calendar to make sure we schedule a free afternoon.

Hope to have the date solidified by tomorrow.

Thanks.

NPR was talking about cyber bullying,

I was listening to NPR on my way home from work today and it turned out that the program was discussing cyber bullying.  One statement made was this (roughly):

"Kids today are no meaner than kids in the 1600's, the difference is it was not made so public in the 1600's.  Today, with everything on the internet, EVERYONE can see it."

Holiday...Busy...Next Rehearsal Info

Happy New Year Everyone!

First of all, I hope that everyone enjoyed a wonderful holiday break!

Secondly, I'm sorry that I haven't put anything up on here ... turns out that with a full time job, the holiday "busy" things, and family visiting that I just didn't get to writing out the "scripts" - until this week (and I just plain forgot to post the statistics - which I will put up in just a bit).

I will work on the "scripts" from our last workshop for use this Saturday.  And I think that this Saturday will be our only rehearsal/workshop this week.  Therefore I would like to do 9am-1pm on Saturday the 5th.

The following week we will have both an after school workshop and the Saturday one.

See you all in a few days!

~Ms. Hall
